Lunetten dankt zijn naam aan de vier gelijknamige 19e-eeuwse forten die hier zijn gebouwd als onderdeel van de Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie. Deze ‘lunetten’ (kleine verdedigingswerken in halve maanvorm) moesten destijds een kwetsbare plek in de verdedigingslinie rondom Utrecht beschermen.<\/p>\n
